Meaningful Music Experience

Students in grades 8 and under from Lancaster County and surrounding areas are invited to join the Lancaster County Junior Orchestra. We’re dedicated to providing our area’s youths with a meaningful musical experience.

Lancaster County Junior Orchestra Members…

  • Learn a variety of orchestral literature.
  • Rehearse Sunday afternoons from 3 to 5 p.m. at Lancaster Mennonite School, twice a month from October through April (excluding December).

About The Junior Orchestra Director, Konrad Fritz

Konrad Fritz holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Music Education from West Chester University with a dual concentration in voice and viola. He has pursued additional studies at Millersville, Wilkes Barre and Penn State Universities and attended graduate school at Temple University. While at Temple, Mr. Fritz was in the Master of Music in Vocal Performance program.

Membership Requirements

  • Must be a student in grades 8 and under.
  • Musically-advanced students in grades 8 who are interested in trying out for the Youth Symphony should indicate their interest to the judges at the time of audition.
  • Near perfect attendance.
  • All selected Junior Symphony members will pay a membership fee of $100.00.
    (Families with two or more members in the Lancaster County Youth Orchestra will receive a discount).

Rehearsal & Concert Dates

The schedule of rehearsal and concert dates will be distributed at the audition. Each member is required to check with his or her school music department for schedule conflicts and report conflicts within one week.

Communication & Announcements

Since virtually all LCYSO communication is done electronically, members are advised to check their email often for audition times, news, and information, and add lcysorch@gmail.com to their address book to prevent blocking. If your email address changes, please notify us immediately.
